We have completed the EWoB Gender Diversity Index 2019. Despite encouraging progress in recent years, the under-representation of women on corporate boards and in management positions remains a challenge for EU member states. Together with KANTAR we had a closer look at all 600 companies listed in the STOXX Euro 600 in 17 European countries. The average Gender Diversity Index of companies analysed is 0.53, with 1 being the value representing perfect gender equality. Only 30 companies (5%) are close to having gender-balanced leadership with a GDI value that is 0.8 or more. On the other hand, 53 companies in the dataset (9%) have strongly male-dominated boards with a GDI of 0.3 or less.
